EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-based therapy that helps individuals process trauma and distressing experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, handheld pulsators, or alternating audio tones—while the client recalls painful memories. This allows the brain to reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional intensity and supports emotional healing. EMDR is highly effective for PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related issues.

EMDR therapy is well-suited for individuals struggling with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, phobias, or distressing life experiences. It’s effective for those who feel “stuck” in painful memories or patterns and are ready to process them in a safe, structured way. EMDR can benefit both recent and long-standing issues and is appropriate for adults, adolescents, and even children in some cases.

The first few sessions of EMDR therapy focus on getting to know you, understanding your history, and identifying the issues you’d like to work on. Your therapist will help you develop coping skills to ensure you feel safe and grounded. You’ll also learn about the EMDR process and begin creating a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Active reprocessing with bilateral stimulation typically begins after this preparation phase.
